Barbara Dreyer is the
president of Connections Academy, a private operator of 10 virtual (online)
K-8 public schools. These schools have been authorized in seven states and
served more than 2,000 students in the 2003-2004 school year. Previously,
she was a founder and chief operating officer of Ntercept Communications,
a company that focused on political activism and online market research.
Dreyer also served as a senior vice president of Communication Systems Technology, Inc., a provider of voice and data conferencing systems for education, government, and commercial use, and was the founder and president of VideoGrafects, a multimedia development company. Prior to that, she was a partner at New Enterprise Associates, one of the leading venture capital firms in the country. Dreyer has served on 15 corporate boards of directors, including those at three public companies, along with numerous nonprofit and educational advisory boards. She serves on the board of visitors of Towson University as well that of University of Maryland University College. After being named three times to the Top 100 Women in Maryland list, Dreyer was retired to its Circle of Excellence. She was Towson University's Alumna of the Year, and she won the United Way's Clementine Award for community service. Dreyer was also the founding chair of the Greater Baltimore Technology Council. She holds an MBA from Loyola College, was a business and economics major at Towson University, and earned the Certified in Production and Inventory Management and Certified Public Accountant credentials. |
